About me
Hi! If you want to know a bit about me and how I came to have this blog, I decided to do a little Q&A about myself.
Q: Who are you? 😉
A: I’m a wife, mother, sister, daughter, friend – basically a woman who wears many hats! I am primarily a stay at home mom who spends her days doing all sorts of things which include taking care of my family and household but also doing the bookkeeping for our residential design/build contracting company, LeVine Construction Group, and an investment commercial property, plus working on this wee little blog. I also work out regularly (I prefer yoga, Pilates, and walking), run errands, meet friends for coffee or lunch…..
Q: Where do you currently live?
A: I currently live in Potomac, MD, where I actually grew up. I went to college at the University of Miami where I studied business and happened to meet my husband, who is also a native to the DC area. After college we moved back to the DC area and eventually settled back in Potomac/Rockville.
Q: Do you have a family?
A: I have a wonderful husband whom I’ve been married to since 2003. We also have 2 lively and loving daughters. Plus, our dogs, Buster (left) and Bailey (right), who are both rescues.
Q: What are your passions?
A: Besides my friends and family, my passions include shopping, reading (you can find what I’m reading from my Goodreads page), cooking, exercising, traveling (when I can), watching TV, and catching up on lots of fashion blogs. 🙂
Q: What is your style?
A: My style is basically simple and classic with modern updates. I feel most like myself in jeans and a nice tank top with simple classic jewelry. I enjoy trends but if a trend isn’t my style or a good fit for my body type, I have to skip it. I don’t tend to be very preppy or conservative or wear a lot of prints. I prefer a solid shirt that I can add a delicate necklace to for more visual interest. I have a secret obsession for soft but practical and fun pajamas! I don’t own a ton of purses because I gravitate to go towards classics and practicality like YSL, Gucci and Louis Vuitton. Due to my little feet and high arches, my favorite shoes are stylish and comfy flip flops, sandals, flats or a casual shoe/sneaker or high top. And honestly, I wear Ugg’s like everyone else when it’s freezing out!
Q: Whose style do you admire?
A: I’d say that Jennifer Aniston’s style is one I emulate the most. She has a classic style with modern twists and generally stays true to herself. She doesn’t wear a lot of prints or too many bold colors which I relate to. I also think Cate Blanchett is just beautiful and has such grace in how she hold’s herself and while she takes style risks, she always looks impeccable!
Q: What size clothes do you usually wear?
A: I’m petite at 5’1 and I tend to wear an XS in tops and 27 in jeans (currently most of my jeans are Mother brand but I’m not opposed to a good pair from Abercrombie as well). I have a little bit of hips so my build is a little more curvier then athletic. I wear a size 5 shoe and have really high arches so unfortunately it makes shoe shopping for me a bit more of a challenge. (Boo!)
Q: What are some of your favorite brands?
A: Splendid is one of my all time favorite brands but for jeans, Mother Brand, AG Denim or Citizens of Humanity are the ones that fit me best. Like everyone else, I own a lot of pairs! For sneakers, Nike fit me best and I love to get a new pair every Fall or Spring with whatever color I’m feeling matches the color trends. I also love p448 for casual sneakers (Golden Goose don’t fit my small feet as well but I do own a pair of high tops). For exercise gear, I am devout Lululemon fan but I also wear a lot of Athleta and Beyond Yoga and some smaller brands like Splits59. I also love Z Supply! They make good clothes for every occasion – lounge to an evening out. For lounge clothes, I currently own a lot by the brand perfectwhitetee but I also own some electric & rose, freecity, and Aviator Nation (unfortunately all on the more expensive side - sorry!). For every day jewelry that won’t break the bank but is as close to full gold as you’ll get, try Alexa Leigh. I own a lot of pieces from the brand (you can get some on Shopbop as well).
Q: What are some of your favorite places to shop?
A: I have a few “go to” places I like to shop which are Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, Shopbop, Revolve Clothing and occasionally Zara and Anthropologie. Also, South Moon Under (which is a local boutique with a bunch of stores all over the east coast plus an awesome online store) is a big favorite, too.
Q: What do you know about beauty?
A: Honestly, I don’t know anymore then the next person but I enjoy make-up and since I turned 40 a few years ago, skincare has been a big concern for me. So, I am often trying new products to help combat wrinkles or testing out the best moisturizers for dry skin in the winter. I love lip glosses but in general, my make-up is on the simpler side as well. I am always open to learning new tricks to help improve my look. I do have thick wavy/curly hair so products that help combat frizz and allow me to straighten my hair are key to my routine (I try to straighten my hair every few days). I get a Brazilian blow-out 2-3 times a year since living in the Northeast means otherwise having HUGE hair as soon as you walk out the door no matter what products you use (Let’s not discuss how I had 4 years of big hair while going to college in Miami. Ha!).
So, there you have it! 🙂
